Problem:Leadership Crisis in Managing School Bullying

Issuesassociated with school bullying:

Accordingto Wanko (200, p. 9), bullied children experience various problemssuch as mental health, physical and school challenges. Tindall (2009,p. 4) adds that anxiety and depression may result into feelings ofloneliness and sadness, loss of interest in normal activities such aslearning and changes in eating and sleeping habits. Other problemsinclude decreased academic, achievement, health complaints andincreased suicide cases. Sharp (2006, p. 17) adds that kids skipclasses, as well as lose interest in school. In some cases, schoolbullying may lead to substance abuse.

Palmisano(2008, p.25) claims that children who bully others also experienceserious problems such as vulnerability to substance abuse, both inchildhood and adulthood engaging in early sexual activitiesjuvenile delinquent, and in some cases develop into hardenedcriminals and the children have low academic performance.

Kerr(2009, p. 110) claims that school managements can overcome bullyingthrough educating teachers on efficient methods of controlling theproblem. Moreover, school managements shouldhold regular seminarsin schools that aim at educating both students and teachers on thedangers of bullying as well as, establishing penalties such aspermanent expulsion of bullying perpetrators.

Whatnew knowledge I want to add to aid problem

Thisproposal recommends introducing counseling services in school inorder to identify bullied children as well as, underlying issuesthat make some children bullies. Moreover, this plan recommends thatschool managements should improve the communication line between thestudents and the administrators (Rigby 2002, p. 34).


Solvingmanagement issues is crucial, as it will help students to improveperformance. In addition, the number of students committing suicideevery year will reduce (Smith &amp Sharp 1994, p. 39).

  1. Identify the leadership/management style of the current interventions and prevention programmes utilized to address the issue of school bullying within the school system in Trinidad (Garret 2009, p. 7)

  2. Evaluate the readiness, commitment and effectiveness of such in addressing the problem of school bullying(Garret 2009, p. 8)

  3. Recommend process to better address the problem (Garret 2009, p. 9)

  4. Develop strategies for establishing children negatively affected by bullying (Garret 2009, p. 10)


Leadershipcrisis in managing school bullying can be improved through involvingstudents’ children in controlling the vice. In addition, trainingeducators on efficient methods of controlling the problem, as wellas, enlightening students on the risks of bullying and the means forovercoming the problem are all perfect methods on controlling theproblem.
